Shoulder & Arm Pain
Treatment for shoulder and arm pain in South Bristol
At the Bristol Back Pain Clinic, our chiropractors and osteopaths are experts in assessing, diagnosing and treating musculoskeletal conditions (problems with the joints, ligaments, tendons and nerves of the body) including shoulder and arm pain.
Focus on the shoulder
The shoulder joint is made up of several different components including bones (humerus, scapula and clavicle or collar bone), muscles (including the rotator cuff muscles), ligaments, tendons and nerves. It also features 4 joints within it. Of all the joints in the body it has the greatest degree of motion which can make it vulnerable.
Types of shoulder pain
Common shoulder problems we see in the clinic include frozen shoulder, shoulder impingement and rotator cuff tears. Shoulder pain can also be referred pain from your neck. Referred neck pain can be felt over the shoulder blade or in the upper outer arm. If the pain in your shoulder comes with a tingling sensation, it is more likely to be caused by a problem in the neck.
Treatment for shoulder pain
Harry Kauntze, chiropractor at The Bristol Back Pain Clinic explains how treatment can help with shoulder pain: “Identifying the cause of pain and giving our patients a clear understanding of the problem and how we can treat it are the first steps to recovery. As shoulder pain isn’t always directly caused by a problem in the shoulder joint, an accurate diagnosis is key to recovery. Once we have established what the problem is, we are able to use a range of effective treatments for shoulder pain to provide improvement. These include acupuncture, joint mobilisations or adjustments, stretching and massage techniques, nutritional advice, relaxation techniques, home stretches and exercises. If required we can also order MRI and Xrays to assist diagnosis.”

“Harry, Melita and the team at Bristol Back Pain Clinic have helped me tremendously with a neck/shoulder injury. I have had a number of sessions with Harry, and have found his advice and expertise really beneficial. Harry takes the time to explain exactly what is causing pain, and how it can be remedied. Melita is always extremely helpful and responsive. I would recommend Bristol Back Pain Clinic to anyone suffering with pain (and absolutely does not need to be a back injury).”
“I had recurrent upper back/shoulder pain for several years, and tried various therapies to help. But it kept coming back. Since I have been seeing Harry, for the last 5 years or so, I have not had any recurrence, and been pain-free. Problem solved.”
“Harry is professional, friendly and eager to get to the bottom of any ache or pain. He is passionate about sorting you out and has a holistic approach- incorporating acupuncture into his work on my shoulder and working on areas that i didn’t even know were part of the problem has really helped me to start to work out what is going on!”
“I’d highly recommend the Bristol Back Pain Clinic. The pain in my shoulder blade and back has improved considerably after just 2 or 3 sessions. There was no pressure to keep going back or sign up for months of sessions like I’ve experienced at other clinics in the past, genuinely lovely people that just want you to feel better and the pain to stop. I hope I don’t my pain doesn’t come back but if it does I’ll be very happy to go back here. Thank you!
“I have been having treatment with Harry for the past 6 months and would highly recommend him! My sessions have always been very professional yet friendly and actual treatment on my neck/shoulder was first class!”
