Treatment for neck pain in South Bristol

At the Bristol Back Pain Clinic, our chiropractors and osteopaths are experts in assessing, diagnosing and treating mechanical neck pain.

Focus on neck pain

Worry, stress, sleeping in an awkward position or long hours spent at a desk can all result in pain in the neck. This can range from a mild discomfort to a continuous dull ache which can often also be felt in the shoulder area as it extends across the shoulders and between the shoulder blades. Often movement in the neck becomes stiff, and sometimes the tension can cause patients to experience headaches too.

Almost all of us have had neck pain at one time or another, but for some it can become a daily problem that affects mood, ability to concentrate, and even sleep. In fact, back and neck pain is the second most common reason for visiting a GP.

Treating a painful or stiff neck

Chiropractors and osteopaths are specialists in diagnosing and treating all types of musculoskeletal conditions (problems with the joints, ligaments, tendons and nerves of the body) and chiropractic treatments are recommended by NICE (GP guidelines) for neck pain.

Treatment for neck pain

Harry Kauntze, chiropractor at The Bristol Back Pain Clinic explains how treatment can help: “Identifying the cause of pain and giving our patients a clear understanding of the problem and how we can treat it are the first steps to recovery. Once we know what the problem is, we can use a range of effective treatments for lasting improvement. These include acupuncture, joint mobilisations or adjustments, stretching and massage techniques, nutritional advice, relaxation techniques, home stretches and exercises.”

Harry adds: “People often tell us they feel a bit jammed up, misaligned, or that it feels like a nerve is getting pinched.  If this sounds familiar, we can help and treatments often have a dramatic effect in reducing the frequency of symptoms, if not full resolution.”

Testimonials

See why patients love Bristol Back Pain Clinic

“I had 6 treatments for a long standing neck and shoulder problem and am pain free for the first time in about 3 years. The practitioner took a detailed history and explained my problem clearly, showing excellent knowledge of anatomy and physiology. She was friendly, kind and professional and I highly recommend Bristol Back Pain Clinic.”

“Having been involved in a serious car accident at the age of 18 I have struggled with neck and back pain for the last 30 years. I was initially unsure as the treatment was not the painful sports massage that I had previously experienced but I can honestly say that my neck and back pain are reduced with increased mobility. I have recommended the service to several of my work colleagues who have also had good results.”

“I’m so glad I made the decision to visit Bristol Back Clinic. I have suffered from headaches for years now due to neck and shoulder tension. I finally decided not to accept it anymore. I can honestly say it has changed by life. Since I have been seen by both Sian and Harry I sleep better and feel better in every day life due to the tension being relieved. Both Harry and Sian are friendly and helpful and I would thoroughly recommend using them.”

“I started to see Harry because I had a very sore and stiff neck and suffered from severe headaches.  The gentle way he treats you is very relaxing and there is no crunching and clicking – which can be a bit off-putting.    With a combination of cranial work, massage and acupuncture – the headaches have almost gone.  Harry has taught me how to understand the trigger signs.  I have maintenance work every now and again just to release the pressure points and it is bliss when he releases a spot that is full of tension.  I would recommend that everyone sees him, he has really helped me feel taller and more relaxed.  Thanks Harry.”
